Joe has been a resident of Clarenville since 2004. He attended Memorial University in St. John’s where he completed his B.A. in Psychology along with a Certificate in Criminology. He graduated from Memorial University in 2001.

From there he moved on to the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, NB and completed his L.L.B., graduating in 2004.

Joe spent a summer employed with the Newfoundland and Labrador Legal Aid Commission and began his articles at the firm during the summer of 2003, between his second and third year of law school. Upon his graduation in June, 2004, he returned to Mills Pittman and completed his articles with the firm over the next ten months.

He was called to the bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in April, 2005 and has been working with the firm ever since. He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador as well as the Canadian Bar Association.

Joe’s primary focus areas are corporate law, real estate, personal injury claims, fisheries, and civil litigation but he practices in all areas.

He has appeared in all levels of Court in Newfoundland and Labrador including the Provincial Court, the Supreme Court Trial Division and Family Division, as well as the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal. He has also appeared at the Federal Court of Canada and has prepared submissions for presentation at the Tax Court of Canada. In January of 2013 he appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa.

Joe is a founding and current director and vice-president of the Breakaway Foundation Inc, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to provide financial assistance for minor hockey registration to those children in need and to otherwise encourage the development of youth hockey in the province. He is also vice-president of the Rotary Club of Clarenville and serves on the board of directors of the Clarenville and Area Chamber of Commerce. Joe was also recently named Vice President of the Chamber.

He became a partner of the firm in January of 2013 and is a life long Habs fan.
